Public events on tap at Ocean Center

The Ocean Center, 101 N. Atlantic Ave., Daytona Beach, will host an eclectic blend of public events in mid-July. 

The Daytona Truck Meet is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, July 15; and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, July 16. More than 5,000 spectators are expected to get up close and personal with the biggest truck builds in the United States and Canada. The event will feature online personalities, automotive specialists, vendors, and pickup trucks that range from everyday work vehicles to full-blown show trucks. Tickets can be purchased at the door or through Ticketmaster. Tickets are $10 per day plus additional Ticketmaster fees. Two-day weekend passes are $15 each plus additional Ticketmaster fees. More than 3,000 young people will converge on the Ocean Center to take part in the Student Life Beach Camp from July 17 to 21. Participants can worship and sing with David Platt, Robby Gallaty, Crowder, Trip Lee and Rend Collective. Tickets, which are $165 for all morning and evening sessions, may be purchased at www.studentlife.com

The Florida Gun Show is set for 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, July 22; and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, July 23. It will feature an array of firearms, ammunition, shooting supplies, knives and more. Self-defense products will include tasers, stun guns and pepper sprays. Concealed weapon permit classes will be offered throughout the weekend.
