The Ocean Center will host many public events in August including:
Jurassic Quest dinosaur exhibit returns, Aug. 11-13
If you thought the only place to see dinosaurs was on the big screen, then you are in for a treat as Jurassic Quest returns to Volusia County’s Ocean Center Aug. 11-13. Jurassic Quest is the largest exhibit of life-size, moving, museum-quality dinosaurs in North America. The main dinosaur exhibit features realistic, life-size, animatronic dinosaurs, cute baby dinosaurs and lots of activities for kids of all ages. Activities include huge T-rex and triceratops fossil digs where young paleontologists can uncover dinosaur bones, along with face painting, dinosaur crafts, and the Dino Bounce area with several dinosaur-themed inflatable mazes and even dinosaur rides. Admission starts at $18 for children, $29 for children's VIP admission, $16 for adults and $14 for seniors. Children under 2 are free. Law enforcement and military members and their families save $2 per ticket with identification. Exhibit hours are from 3 to 8 p.m. Aug. 11, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Aug. 12, and 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Aug. 13. Mixed martial arts showcase, Aug. 12
Tickets are on sale now for Breakthrough MMA. This high-energy, mixed martial arts event returns to the Ocean Center Saturday, Aug. 12. The event starts at 7 p.m., and tickets start at $30. Annual Fall Home and Garden Show, Aug. 18-20
Got a home improvement project in the works or looking for ideas? The seventh annual Volusia County Fall Home and Garden Show offers thousands of square feet of exhibits where you’ll find the latest in products and services, materials, decks, pools, spas, entertainment systems, storage, plants, landscape displays/materials, kitchenware and much more. Visitors can meet celebrity guest Skip Bedell, cohost of Spike TV's "Catch a Contractor." Other event highlights include landscape, gardening and water features; a complete selection of home improvement items; a new product zone; a kids' zone; a pet zone where you can adopt pets; and other fun activities. Show hours are 2 to 6 p.m. Aug. 18, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Aug. 19, and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 20. Admission is by cash or check only. Cold-blooded fun at Reptile Breeders Expo, Aug. 19-20
You won't want to miss the largest reptile meeting in the world, when the National Breeders Expo returns to the Ocean Center Aug. 19-20. Hours of the exhibit are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Visitors can see hundreds of captive-born snakes, spiders, lizards, amphibians and turtles, along with herpetology memorabilia, books and supplies. A "Cold Blooded Creations Art Show" will also be part of the expo. Tickets will be sold at the door and are $15 for a weekend pass. Children 6 and under are admitted free. Kick International Florida State Championship, Aug. 26
Kick International will host a Florida State Championship at the Ocean Center Aug. 26. KICK International is devoted to youth and features a complete circuit of tournaments, camps and seminars designed to provide young martial artists with a safe, fair and motivating environment in which to test their skills.
