There is always a lot going on at Volusia County’s Ocean Center. Upcoming events include the following, which includes the San Juan basketball shootout that moved to the Ocean Center due to damage in Puerto Rico, and Light up Volusia.
San Juan basketball competition, Nov. 23-24
The 2017 San Juan Shootout basketball action begins tomorrow at the Ocean Center. The women’s basketball tournament will be Thursday, Nov. 23, and Friday, Nov. 24. The field for the 2017 San Juan Shootout includes Coastal Carolina, North Texas, Buffalo, Nebraska, Detroit and Clemson. Games begin each day at 2 p.m. and are open to spectators. Light up Volusia! Nov. 25
Don't miss this annual holiday tradition! The Ocean Center will host the seventh annual Light up Volusia from 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 25, on the east plaza of the convention center. The public is invited to kick off the holiday season with this free, fun-filled holiday event. Highlights include the lighting of a 50-foot holiday tree at 7:15 p.m., the arrival of Mr. and Mrs. Claus, holiday refreshments, children’s activities, entertainment, holiday showcases and a gingerbread house competition. Entertainment includes the Beu Sisters, Crescendo Amelia, Surfside Chorus, stilt walkers, the Grinch, face painters, balloon artists, a magician and more. The Community Showcase includes Ace Gymnastics, Volusia County Beach Safety Ocean Rescue, Bubba Gump Shrimp Co./Mai Tai, Daytona Lagoon, Daytona Tortugas, Devereux, Earl Street Grill, Maui Nix, Florida Department of Health in Volusia County, Joe’s Crab Shack, Paragon Theaters/MyPi Pizza, Peabody Auditorium, Ponce deLeon Inlet Lighthouse, Hangar 15, Sloppy Joe's Daytona Beach, Speed Park Motorsports, Pirate's Cove Adventure Golf, Eisler Therapeutics, Volusia County Environmental Management and Volusia County Library Services. Fur Ball to benefit Halifax Humane Society, Dec. 7
The eighth annual Fur Ball to benefit the Halifax Humane Society will be from 7 to 11 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 7, in the Ocean Center's ballroom. Guests will enjoy dinner, music, an auction and chocolate lounge. Tickets are $75 for general admission and $125 for VIP entry. The VIP ticket includes an invitation to the VIP Red Carpet Reception from 6 to 7 p.m., complimentary valet parking, plated dinner, three drink tickets and priority access to the chocolate lounge experience. Harlem Globetrotters World Tour, Dec. 9
The Original Harlem Globetrotters are bringing their action-packed 2018 World Tour to the Ocean Center at 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 9.
