Ocean Center event flipping in to the record book

The National Association of Intercollegiate Gymnastics Clubs (NAIGC) will attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the most simultaneous back tucks at 10:45 a.m. Saturday, April 13, at the Ocean Center. Festivities begin at 10:30 a.m. with an athlete processional, followed by the record attempt.

"The NAIGC is a relatively new gymnastics organization that is growing and trying to prove our credibility to the greater gymnastics community," said NAIGC director Tyler Green. "We now have over 1,600 members, so we want to show this off and make a statement, and we think that breaking this world record will do just that!"

The current Guinness World Record for simultaneous backflips is 250, but NAIGC members hope to more than double that number with their attempt. Media interested in attending should RSVP to Lisa Browning at lbrowning@oceancenter.com. Media may park in the exhibit hall dock on the north side of the facility.

The Ocean Center welcomes the NAIGC for its annual National Championships April 11 through 13. The event features collegiate and adult competition at all levels, including men's and women's gymnastics, tumbling and trampoline. The event is free and open to the public; donations will be accepted in lieu of an admission fee. For more information, visit https://naigc.org/event/2019-nationals-daytona-florida/.
