Ocean Center powers up for USA Weightlifting

The Ocean Center welcomes weightlifters from around the country to the USA Weightlifting 2019 American Open Series III, taking place Sept. 13 through 15.

The event is expected to be the second largest event in USA Weightlifting’s history and features more than 1,200 athletes at the Youth, Senior and Master levels. 

Daytona Beach has played a significant role in weightlifting, hosting the 1987 IWF World Championship for Women. This event was unique in that it was the first time women could compete for an International Weightlifting Federation world title. The upcoming event will recognize the significance of the 1987 competition.
