Ocean Center secures contract

The National Mobility Equipment Dealers Association (NMEDA) recently secured contracts to hold its annual conference at the Ocean Center through 2022. NMEDA will hold its next conference in February 2015. The group has been coming to the Ocean Center every other year since 1999. The new contracts bring NMEDA to the county-run convention center every year beginning in 2018.

The 2015 conference is expected to attract 650 participants.

Marilyn Myers, executive assistant at NMEDA, said the association decided on the long-term contact after an extensive search of venues throughout the country.

“The Ocean Center is the only facility that can consistently meet our requirements which are subject to change every year, said Myers. “It’s very versatile and can accommodate the different programs that we implement from time to time in conjunction with the conference. We have had an excellent working relationship with the Ocean Center since 1999, the quality of service and catering is exceptional and the staff is a pleasure to work with. We can always count on the Ocean Center to provide us with a memorable event.”

NMEDA is a nonprofit trade association of mobility equipment dealers, manufacturers, driver rehabilitation specialists and other professionals dedicated to expanding opportunities for people with disabilities to drive or be transported in vehicles modified with mobility equipment. Members work together to improve transportation options of people with disabilities.
