Florida Federation of Colorguards returns to Ocean Center this weekend

The Ocean Center is pleased to welcome back the Florida Federation of Colorguards (FFCC) for their Circuit Championships March 25 through 27. The event is the culmination of the competitive season and features thousands of students competing for recognition and top honors.

During the three day event, students from middle and high schools throughout the state will compete in color guard, percussion and winds. Several local schools are participating, including DeLand High School, Deltona High School, Seabreeze High School, Spruce Creek High School and University High School.

The Ocean Center has had a longstanding partnership with FFCC, working together to host the annual event at the facility for years.

“This event is a culmination of all the competitors’ hard work throughout the year and gives participants an opportunity to show off their skills,” said FFCC President Michael Higbe. “Between the flexible space at the Ocean Center and its location, the venue is a great fit for our event. It offers the features we need to host the event and provides a destination for our attendees to enjoy when they’re not competing.”

FFCC offers a competitive outlet during winter for color guard, indoor marching percussion and concert percussion teams and winds. The competitive season begins in January after football season wraps up and culminates with the Circuit Championships. The FFCC offers a variety of competitive classes ranging from the first year unit to the seasoned competitor. Contests follow the rules and criteria of Winter Guard International (WGI) and are judged by both local and national judges trained to use WGI’s adjudication criteria.

The Circuit Championships take place Friday, March 25, through Sunday, March 27, and are open to the public. Ticket price varies per event; tickets are available for purchase online at https://ffcc.org/events/ffcc-championships/. The 2022 event is estimated to see 6,250 attendees over 3 days and generate approximately 800 room nights.
