The Ocean Center is excited to add another new event to the calendar with the USA Taekwondo 2022 Eastern Grand Prix June 17 through 19. The Eastern Grand Prix is part of the 2022 Championship Season, which brings the return of Team Trials for U.S. National Team selection in the form of the largest, most inclusive performance driven process in the history of the sport.

Part of Team USA, USA Taekwondo launched the Championship Season, including the U.S. Grand Prix Series, in 2021. The Grand Prix series consists of three regional events that bring competitors of all levels together to compete in sparring, poomsae and board breaking. Participants battle not only for bragging rights, but also an invitation to the National Championships and Grand Prix Final, where athletes can earn a spot on the USATKD National Team.

“We’re glad the Eastern Grand Prix is returning for another year and we’re looking forward to holding it at the Ocean Center,” said Christy Strong Simmons, senior director of events with USA Taekwondo. “Not only is the facility a great fit for the event, but the location offers athletes and their friends and families an opportunity to enjoy the destination along with the competition.”

The Eastern Grand Prix takes place June 17 through 19 and is open to the public. More information on tickets will be available in the coming months. The event is estimated to generate over 1,000 room nights and include approximately 2,000 attendees over three days.
