2023 Sunshine Slam returns Nov. 20 and 21, features two Florida schools

The matchups are set for the 2023 Sunshine Slam, which culminates Nov. 20 and 21 at the Ocean Center in Daytona Beach, Florida.

The two-day tournament will feature eight Division 1 basketball teams from across the country, including two Florida teams—Florida State and Stetson. Other competitors are Central Michigan, Colorado, Milwaukee, Richmond, Siena and UNLV. Each team will play one regional home game prior to the championship rounds Nov. 20 and 21 at the Ocean Center.

“We’re grateful to be the home of Sunshine Slam,” said Ocean Center Interim Director Tim Buckley. “The tournament provides an opportunity for competitors and their friends and family to experience our venue and area but is also a fun experience for our local community to watch competitive, Division 1 basketball.”

Tickets for the 2023 Sunshine Slam Championship may be purchased in advance at Ticketmaster.com or on the day of competition at the Ocean Center box office.

The complete championship round schedule is as follows:

Semifinal games- Nov. 20

  • Ocean Bracket
    • 11:30 a.m.– Siena vs. Central Michigan
    • 1:30 p.m.– Milwaukee vs. Stetson
  • Beach Bracket
    • 5:30 p.m.– Florida State vs. UNLV
    • 8 p.m. –Colorado vs. Richmond

Championship games- Nov. 21

  • Ocean Bracket
    • Noon– Championship Game
    • 8:30 p.m.– 3rd Place Game
  • Beach Bracket
    • 4 p.m.– Championship Game
    • 6:30 p.m.– 3rd Place Game

This is the third consecutive year the Ocean Center will host the Sunshine Slam tournament. The event organizer, Gazelle Group, has also hosted the College Basketball Invitational at the Ocean Center annually since 2021.
