Living History Day

With events scheduled nearly 300 days each year, there always is something happening at the Ocean Center. History will come to life at this family-friendly event. It will feature George and Martha Washington, and Galileo actors, a war re-enactment camp, guided tours of the 150-year-old winter hunting estate with reenactors portraying various members of the DeBary family, historical presentations (see below for times), Victorian games, crafts, and more. We will also have vendors joining us from Roots and Branches Genealogical Society of West Volusia, the Central Florida Cemetery Project, and local descendants/educators on the Taino; the Indigenous Peoples of the Caribbean. Sandwiches, chips, candy, and drinks will be available for purchase. 

Visitors can tour the 150-year-old winter hunting lodge of the DeBary family and visit with re-enactors portraying various family members, including Frederick DeBary at 10:30, 12:30 and 2:30 p.m. Admission prices are $5 for adults, $4 for seniors, $2 for children ages 3 to 12, and free for children 2 and younger. Tickets may be purchased in the Visitor Center on Saturday, March 9.
