Calling all community members! Join the 28th annual St. Johns River Cleanup from 8 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 20. Planners hope to clean 59 miles of the waterway and river basin with the help of boaters and other volunteers. Scout troops, schools, and social groups are encouraged to participate, making it a community-wide effort that welcomes individuals of all ages.
Remember to bring water and wear essentials such as sunglasses, a hat, sunscreen, work gloves, and suitable clothing. Feel free to bring your own tools like rakes, shovels, and trash grabbers. You may also bring boats, if your site has a boat ramp, or canoes.
Volunteers can choose from the following nine sites:
- Nine Mile Point Park, at the west end of Nine Mile Point Road, Pierson
- Shell Harbor, 1800 Shell Harbor Road, Pierson
- Ed Stone Park, 2990 W. State Road 44, DeLand
- Lake Beresford Park, 2100 Fatio Road, DeLand
- Blue Springs State Park, 2100 French Ave., Orange City
- Lake Monroe Park, 975 S. U.S. 17-92, DeBary
- Lemon Bluff Boat Ramp, 907 Lemon Bluff Road, Osteen
- DeLeon Springs, 601 Ponce DeLeon Springs Blvd.
