Local artists wanted for Ocean Center ECHO Gallery exhibit

The County of Volusia ECHO Gallery Committee is seeking proposals for a new exhibition in the Ocean Center’s ECHO Gallery. Artists are encouraged to submit their two-dimensional, Volusia County history-themed pieces by 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 10, 2023.

The Ocean Center’s ECHO Gallery provides a pre-event space that also serves as a venue to promote and increase participation in the county’s Environmental, Cultural, Historical and Outdoor Recreation assets by displaying rotating, non-commercial exhibits that focus on one or more of the four areas.

Submissions should be sent to rredd@volusia.org and include .jpg files of artwork, as well as a narrative describing the basic theme and subject matter of each submission. Works submitted for consideration should depict historical themes from within Volusia County and be appropriate for public viewing. Art can be in any two-dimensional medium. Large-scale artwork is recommended for the space, at a minimum of 18” x 24” and maximum of 48” x 60”. For full submission details, visit www.oceancenter.com/about-us/echo-art-gallery.stml.

The seven-member ECHO Gallery committee will review submissions and select final works that collectively represent all regions of the county for display in the Ocean Center ECHO Gallery from June 2023 through March 2024. Applicants are encouraged to visit and view the ECHO Gallery, which is open to the public from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Please call 286-254-4500 before visiting to ensure that the ECHO Gallery is not in use for a special event.
