Ocean Center welcomes back College Basketball Invitational

After a successful 2021 tournament, the College Basketball Invitational (CBI) has made an unprecedented announcement—a return to the Ocean Center for its 2022 event.

From its conception in 2008 until 2019 the event was held on college campuses. But in 2021, CBI broke with tradition and hosted the entire event at one location, the Ocean Center in Daytona Beach. And after receiving high-praise for both the format and venue, the CBI will return for the second year in a row March 19-23.

“The response we received before, during, and after last year’s CBI was overwhelming, especially when you consider the circumstances the country faced at the time,” says Gazelle Group President Rick Giles. “Because of that, we felt a return to Daytona Beach was warranted. With the location of the hotel being on the beach and the arena being across the street from the hotel, it really is the perfect setting for what we hope will be another exciting CBI.”

“There’s no more powerful testament to a successful partnership than repeat business,” said Ocean Center Director Tim Riddle. “We work diligently to ensure each event we host goes beyond expectations. We’re grateful Gazellle Group gave Ocean Center, and really our community, the opportunity to show them what we could offer in 2021. CBI tournament organizer Gazelle Group also manages the Sunshine Slam basketball tournament, which the Ocean Center hosted in 2021.
